FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHY IS MY DOG SO THIRSTY AFTER ATTENDING DAYCARE?

Even though fresh water is readily available at all times inside rooms and also outdoors, your dog will be excited to be returning home and may gulp food and water. Do not be alarmed. Our veterinarian recommends that after arriving home, you should encourage your dog to drink slowly and offer only small amounts of water for the first hour to prevent tummy upset.

HOW CAN I CHECK ON MY DOG WHILE THEY ARE IN DAYCARE OR SLEEPOVER?

You can feel free to call 903.223.8555 anytime during our business hours to speak with someone personally about your dog. We are very active on social media so be sure to watch our Facebook page, Instagram Feed to see your dog in action!

MY DOG HAS A SPECIAL DIET. CAN THEIR NEEDS BE ACCOMMODATED?

Yes! We care about your dog’s safety and comfort. We encourage you to bring your pup’s own food to maintain their regular diet and avoid any digestion issues. You may consider bringing a little extra food for sleepovers as they burn a lot more calories in play than they typically do at home. We also have a refrigerator available for diets that require it. We make sure no guest misses a meal even if that means adding a healthy tempting topping to their regular diet - at no additional cost to our clients.

WHAT DO YOU PROVIDE FOR A SLEEPOVER?

We provide everything your dog needs for a sleepover stay except food. It is best to continue your dog's home diet to prevent tummy upset. We ask that you pack only enough food for your dog's stay in zip-lock bags; individually portioned per meal. Due to COVID-19 regulations, we can no longer accept personal items that would need to be returned at check-out. As always, all of our suites are sanitized between each guest and their bedding is freshened up every night! We provide clean beds, freshly laundered blankets, toys, & stainless steel bowls. We offer a turn down service with a special treat placed on their bed each night at no extra charge.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS FOR YOUR SERVICES?

CAN I SCHEDULE SPA SERVICES FOR MY DOG WITHOUT ENROLLING IN DAYCARE?

Our enrollment requirements are:

  • All dogs must be spayed/neutered by 6 months. Puppies younger than 6 months must have a spay/neuter plan in place with your veterinarian.

  • Dogs must be current on all vaccinations including Bordetella

  • It is highly important that your dog is very well socialized with other dogs outside of family pets. Dogs over 1 year old are required to have prior daycare experience.

If your dog meets all of the above criteria, we can then move forward with scheduling a temperament evaluation. This is to ensure that your dog is comfortable in our daycare environment. The evaluation fee is $20 per dog.

Daycare can be stressful for dogs who are not used to a busy environment. We recommend beginning doggie daycare as soon as your dog is old enough to attend. Puppies must be at least 12 weeks old and current on all vaccinations including Bordetella (this prevents kennel cough). We limit the number of puppies allowed in daycare at one time. All puppy shots must be complete including Bordetella and a plan to spay/neuter at 6 months. We consider your geriatric pet's unique personality and special needs. Some geriatric pets have a more difficult time being away from their family. We discourage sleepovers for large dogs over the age of 10 and small dogs over the age of 12.

No. Our spa services are reserved for the convenience of our registered daycare and sleepover clients only.

If you would like more information on the registration process for daycare, please see the requirements listed on this page.

A Round of “Apaws”

Requirements

My dogs are generally not leashed unless circumstances or venue make it necessary. That said, 3 of my 4 jump out of the car and are at the door of Prancing Paws trying to get in by the time I get of the car. (The fourth would follow, but her short legs don't allow for the jumping.) They apparently all give Prancing Paws at least two thumbs👍👍 (or paws) up. As finicky as they are, that is a great recommendation.

We just picked up our Buster from his 4 night stay at Prancing Paws. This was our first time to leave him anywhere, and needless to say, we were very anxious. Turns out, there was no need. Buster came to us happy and exhausted from all the playing he had done. He is out cold in the back seat right now. LOL! When we arrived today, we got to watch him on the big screen tv while he played with his new friends. It was so wonderful to see him happy and safe.
Prancing Paws is like Fort Knox when it comes to the safety and security of the dogs, and that was thing that solidified our decision to leave him there while we went out of town.
Thank you PP for taking care of our baby. We are already planning his next stay.

Bailey loves going to Prancing Paws and they take great care of her while she is there!! We love sending her so she can interact with other puppies and run and play. We don’t have to worry about her while we are away! They have activities for the puppies and Bailey always has a blast! I love seeing pics they upload so I can check in on my puppygirl. Prancing Paws is a blessing to our little family!!
